About me and my therapy practice
I am a compassionate and experienced Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist and EMDR Practitioner, with experience in the NHS, voluntary and private sectors. I originally trained as a Registered Mental Health Nurse and I have over 22 years’ experience of working in a therapeutic capacity. This experience has allowed me to develop the diverse skills required to work with a wide range of psychological issues. I now specialise in adult mental health and have a particular interest in working with PTSD, Anxiety issues, Depression and some neurological problems.
I am an accredited practitioner in all three therapies I deliver with the UK's leading professional bodies (BABCP, BACP and EMDR Europe & Ireland). This accreditation status represents a higher level of quality assurance than that afforded by a membership; as accredited therapists have demonstrated rigorous standards of excellence in their practice to prove they are competent and experienced practitioners.
How I work
The focus of my work is client centred and a trusting therapeutic relationship is paramount for any talking therapy to be successful. In order to facilitate change I draw upon leading edge techniques and protocols for the treatment of a wide range of psychological and behavioural problems. My approach is based on best practice, published research and guidance issued by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
Clients I work with
I accept referrals from individuals, Employment Assistance Programmes, private organisations, insurance companies, solicitors, GP's and other professionals. I work with adults of all ages and young people.
How I deliver therapy
Time limited work, longer term work, I work remotely via Video Calling, face-to-face as well as telephone work. I work from private safe and discrete premises in Monkton Village in Jarrow.
Choosing the right therapy may not be easy and making the first contact with a therapist can sometimes be daunting. My clients often comment that they find my manner warm and approachable, so if you wish to contact me directly I will be happy to explain more about the therapies I can offer in relation to your difficulties. I look forward to hearing from you.
